April snow showers bring May flowers? Wisconsin sure has experienced some unusual weather patterns this spring! April's late snow didn't hurt our plants, still under their straw blankets, but it has pushed the season back. The unseasonably cool weather in early May gave way to our current heat wave and really got those blossoms moving. We are excited to start giving hay wagon rides out to the strawberry fields for U-Pick around Father's Day 2018.
If you've been past the farm lately, you probably noticed quite a large pile of mulch accumulating. We are mulching our blackberries and raspberries this spring to help retain moisture in our soils and to suppress weeds. We really hope the extra work makes it a more pleasurable picking experience for our customers. Raspberries will be starting around July 4th! |
